SUMMARY:Training for the Republic of Serbia Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection
DESCRIPTION:The representatives of the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection of the Republic of Serbia will participate in a specialised training session on 3 April 2025\, aimed at strengthening their expertise in data protection and privacy in the AI era. \nOrganised by GIZ\, this training will equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the multidisciplinary and multistakeholder challenges of AI-driven data protection. By deepening their understanding of regulatory frameworks\, emerging risks\, and best practices\, participants will be better prepared to advocate for privacy and data protection in their work with national and international partners. \nAs AI continues to reshape the data landscape\, fostering informed and proactive regulatory approaches becomes essential\, and this training represents a crucial step toward ensuring stronger safeguards for personal data in Serbia.

SUMMARY:Digital Sovereignty and the open internet: Can they coexist?
DESCRIPTION:The Internet Governance Project (IGP) in collaboration with the Quello Center will gather scholars of differing views to debate what digital sovereignty means\, how it is being used as a label\, and whether the various interpretations of the term are compatible with the foundational values of the open internet. \nThe event will take place on 4 April 2025\, from 10:00 – 11:00 am EST (15:00-16:00 CEST). SUMMARY:Briefing on digital governance for Armenian CSOs
DESCRIPTION:Diplo lecturers will lead an online briefing on digital governance for civil society organisations (CSOs) in Armenia on 9 April. The session\, organised by GIZ\, will provide an initial mapping of key digital governance issues\, actors\, and processes\, offering participants an overview of the evolving landscape. \nThe briefing will also serve as an opportunity to gather reflections on the most pressing digital governance challenges for Armenia. Participants’ insights and interests will help shape the content of upcoming capacity-building activities\, including in-situ training and an online course. \nThis initiative aims to support Armenian CSOs in navigating digital governance and contributing to informed discussions on policy and practice.
